Homemade Pretzels

My sister and her boyfriend are trying to woo me. They made homemade pretzels on Valentine's Day and sent me this picture:

Yes, that would be the same sister Katie and her boyfriend Shaan who took to the NYC subway in their undies as part of Improv Everywhere's "No Pants Subway Ride" :

Our mom starting making us homemade pretzels after Patrick's kindergarten class made them. Little Patchi turned 23 today.

GIANT PRETZELS
1 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
1/2 tsp. sugar (needed for yeast to rise)
4 1/2 cups flour
1 egg yolk
2 Tbs. water
Coarse salt or sesame seeds

-Dissolve yeast in warm water and add sugar. Add flour and knead 6 minutes.
-Let dough rise, covered, in a greased bowl until double in size.
-Divide the dough into 12 pieces and roll them into long sticks.
-Blend together the egg and the water and brush some of the mixture on to pretzels.
-Sprinkle on some coarse salt or sesame seeds.
-Bake at 450 for 12 minutes.
